The beautiful thing about lash extensions is they’re a time saver. You wake up in the morning with full fringe, giving you the option to skip the mascara and still look put together.

But what if you want to add a little glam? Can you still wear eye makeup with lash extensions? The answer is YES!

3 Step makeup routine

This three-step makeup routine only requires three products: a primer, an eyeshadow palette, and an eyeliner. You’ve already got beautiful lashes so, we’re skipping the mascara.

1. Apply Primer. First, apply an oil-free primer as a base to help your eye makeup last longer. (Laura Mercier has a great oil-free foundation primer.)

2. Sweep on Eyeshadow. Next, sweep a neutral powder shadow over the lid, a darker shadow in the crease, and a highlighting shadow in the inner corner of your eyes. Like your primer, make sure you’re using an oil-free product.

Now you can stop here, but if you want to add a little more glam, proceed to step 3…

3. Line Eyes. Finally, apply liner along the lash line. Be sure to use an oil-free gel, pencil, or powder eyeliner. There are a variety out there like Stila’s Smudge Pot.

TIP: Use eyeshadow as a liner, it’s easier to remove!

Make Sure Your Products Are Oil-Free

Using the right kind of products will ensure you don’t inadvertently weaken the bond of your lash extensions.

When purchasing your products make sure they’re OIL-FREE. Products containing oil can break down the lash bond. Also steer clear of waterproof products which are difficult to remove and can irritate the eyes.

How to Remove Your Eye Makeup

When it’s time to wash away the day’s glam, we recommend Fresh Faced Gentle Cleanser and Foam Pump Bottle (both are available at La Belle, $20). It removes makeup and is pH balanced for the eyes.
