Sunless Airbrush Tanning With Walkin' on Sunshine

When you want to feel like a bronze goddess look no further than Walkin' on Sunshine, who creates a natural looking spray tan blended specifically to your skin tone/type. Winners of The News Journal's Readers' Choice for Best Tanning in 2014 and 2016, you know you're in good hands.

Originating as a mobile spray tanning salon, a short year-and-a-half later, they brought their tans to Maureen's Hair and Day Spa in Wilmington's Pike Creek area to accommodate their growing client base. Now six years later, Walkin' on Sunshine is still going strong. They're happy to call Middletown "home" to their second location, and are excited to be teaming up with La Belle Studio.

We chatted with owner Dee McLaughlin who shared their current spray tan special, tips for prepping and maintaining your tan, plus answers to your common tanning questions.

Prepping For Your Tan

The night before (or any time up to two hours before your session) you should shower, shave, and exfoliate your body.

If you don’t have a favorite scrub you can make your own with sea salt, honey and a bit of lemon, works like a charm.
— Dee

For those with sensitive skin, she recommends shaving the night before and gently exfoliating with a wash cloth. While you can use a bit of deodorant the day of, be sure to avoid perfumes and body sprays. Dee says skip the lotion unless you have very dry skin (e.g. legs or face), and only use it sparingly.

Bring or wear some type of loose fitting darker clothing, and that's it. You're ready to tan!

Making Your Tan Last

To maintain your tan, clients should wait the suggested time for their tan to properly activate and follow the instructions given to them. Dee also advises her clients to always moisturize properly, which keeps the tan fresh and vibrant.

Instructions are available at And Dee encourages her clients to reach out with any questions: call or text 302-545-6124, email, message/post on Facebook.
