Summertime and the living is easy.... Eh, not so much for your lashes. Heat, humidity, sweat, and water can wreak havoc on your lash extensions, if you aren't careful.
Here's how to protect your investment and still have summer fun!
Pop on Some Goggles
Before you jump off that diving board or go for a swim in the ocean, consider popping some goggles on. Exposure to chlorine and salt water can irritate your eyes, increasing the likelihood of accidentally rubbing your eyes. If you want to opt-out of goggles, make sure when you get inside, you cleanse gently with your normal lash cleanser. (We recommend our Fresh Faced Skincare, Gentle Cleanser and Foam pump bottle- $20.)
Don't Forget Sunglasses
Not that we need an excuse to purchase another pair of sunnies, but we've got a good reason. The harsh sun can weaken your lash bond, making sunglasses a necessity to shield your lashes. Be sure to invest in a good pair that provides UV protection.
Watch Out for Direct Heat
Cozying up to a beach bonfire, roasting marshmallows over a campfire, or slinging burgers on the grill can put your lashes into contact with extreme heat. Try to keep a safe distance to prevent singeing your lashes. (Yes, it does happen!)
Be CAREFUL with OIL-BASED PRODUCTS
This is a year-round rule, but don't forget to avoid oil-based products around the eyes. The oil can break down the lash bond. And when applying sunscreen, skip spraying your face. Instead use an oil-free sunscreen applied by hand, so you can avoid contact with your lashes.
Follow these simple rules, and your lashes will be in good shape all summer long. XOXO
